What is Skincare?

Skin care is the range of practices that supports skin integrity, its health, its appearance and relieve skin conditions. It is also done to slow down the aging process. Skincare is especially done for the face because the first thing that ever gets noticed is our face.  A healthy, glowing, clear skin is always considered as a sign of attraction whereas dull, damaged skin is unalluring to eyes.

At what age should I start Skincare?

.

Well, there is not any specific age at which you should start skincare.it is necessary in every age, even a newborn baby has a gentle skincare routine of cleansing the skin with baby swipes and moisturizing with baby lotion. Teenage skin needs cleansing too to get rid of excess sebum, oil, and dirt to stop breakouts. And in older age skincare is done especially to improve elasticity, boost collagen. So, skin requires gentle care in every age.

A Brief History of Skincare Through Ages:

Skincare is a traditional medical discipline. Have you ever wondered how women in the past used to take care of their skin to beautify themselves?

In Ancient Greece:

In ancient Greece, people widely used to make skin care treatments with mixing fresh berries with milk and then applying it on their face. They used olives and olive oils as exfoliants and moisturizers, honey and milk as antiaging preparations.

In Ancient Egypt:

In terms of skincare the Ancient Egyptians used castor, sesame and moringa oils to fight wrinkles and preserve their youth. They used to have milk baths to cleanse their skin and dead sea salts to exfoliate their skin.

IN 1900s:

The 1900s was an explosion in terms of accessible skincare for men and women. Sunscreen was invented in 1944 and 1946. In 1950s Ponds, Clinique were launched too. The FDA approved Botox for frown lines on the face.

Importance of Skincare and Why should we be

Doing it Everyday:

At this age and beyond, skincare is supremely important, at this age unlike the past people have started to consume junk food more, the environment has gotten polluted due to industrialization. The air is loaded with dirt, impurities and toxins, people are having lack of sleep due to which dark circles and puffy eyes have become common even in kids. Most importantly the depletion of ozone layer in this age due to which UV radiation levels at the Earth’s surface has increased so much that it has highly become damaging to human health. If we do not take care of our skin, premature aging will set in, skin problems like acne and scarring will become normal and ultimately the skin won’t be healthy anymore and it will take a lot of time to heal it then.

Motivation to take care of your Skin:

Need motivation for skincare now we all know that all the celebrities that have spotless, clear and flawless complexion have a good daily skincare routine they do it everyday to look youthful and have a healthy skin. Demi More says that she is a big believer of good skin care routine. If you focus on it, you really don’t need a lot of makeup.

Similarly, Linden Tyler says invest in your skin. It is going to be with you for a long time.

Moreover,

“You are never too old to be young”

So, your skin is your best accessory. Take good care of it. It gives you strength to face the society with confidence.

Natural vs Synthetic Skincare:

Skincare is complicated and what works for one person may not work for the other person. To really know what is best for you test the product yourself to know how your skin will respond to it. Now natural or DIY and Synthetic skin care have their own pros and cons so they both need to be discussed thoroughly.

Natural or DIY Skincare:

Natural skincare means that the raw substances that are found in nature such as berries, fruits, vegetables, oils etc have such a composition that they contain specific ingredients that can treat our skin problems and give us a healthy clear skin.

Pros of Natural Skin care:

·       Natural skincare is great in ways that it is quite cheap and we can find almost all ingredients in our kitchen.

·       It does not contain parabens, phthalates, alcohol and other harmful chemicals.

·       It does not contain artificial fragrance.

Cons of DIY Skincare:

·       DIY skincare should not be stored and once made should be used immediately because it does not contain artificial preservatives that Can fight against bacteria in air thus leading to breakouts.

·       DIY skin care can be a fungal acne trigger.

·       DIY skincare contains ingredients useful to skin but in low concentration.

·       DIY skincare is not refined, purified from ingredients that can irritate the skin due to genetic causes or disorder of that substance.

I am a DIY lover how should I be using MY DIY Products:

If you are a DIY lover make sure that you wash the ingredients well before using. Use your DIY product immediately and try not to store it. If your skin is very damaged and very sensitive because of the damage first consult a dermatologist.

Synthetic Skincare:

Synthetic skincare means that the product is refined, purified in laboratory removing the elements which can cause irritation and increasing the concentration of useful ingredients to really benefit the skin.

Pros of Synthetic Skincare:

·       One of the biggest pros of synthetic skincare is that it can be used again and again. Many synthetic skincare products are at least good to be used for a year.

·       The concentration of useful ingredients for skin is increased in synthetic skincare.

·       The products of synthetic skin care are refined and purified. For example, if you are using  synthetic aloe vera gel rather than a natural aloe vera leaf the synthetic aloe vera gel contains only useful extracts of that aloe vera leaf thus refined from extracts that can irritate the skin.

Cons of Synthetic Skincare:

·       Synthetic skin care can contain paraben, phthalates that can cause cancer and sometimes too much alcohol which is not good for skin.

·       Some Synthetic skincare products contain lot of fragrance.

·       Synthetic skincare costs a lot of money.

·       It can sometimes be hard to choose the right synthetic product or to differentiate which synthetic skincare product is just a money making product and which one can really benefit the skin.

Our Thoughts:

DIY and synthetic skin care have their own pros and cons. We are not against DIY skincare and promotive of synthetic skincare or against synthetic skin care and promotive of DIY skincare. It depends completely on you which one you like. You can also choose both. We are going to make DIY and synthetic series both to help you so that you can choose what is best for you.
